AghaKouchak Designated a Chancellor’s Professor

Amir AghaKouchak, a leading researcher in civil and environmental engineering at UC Irvine, has been honored with the prestigious title of Chancellor’s Professor, recognizing his exceptional academic contributions and value to the university. This distinction, awarded for a renewable five-year term, highlights AghaKouchak’s impactful interdisciplinary work in hydrology, climatology, and climate extremes, particularly around compound hazards and their societal impacts.
AghaKouchak, a Highly Cited Researcher for four consecutive years, has authored over 230 papers in top journals like Nature, PNAS, and Science Advances. He has received numerous accolades, including the AGU Macelwane Medal, ASCE Huber Prize, and IUGG Early Career Scientist Award.
His appointment brings the total number of Chancellor’s Professors in UCI’s Samueli School of Engineering to six, placing him among the school’s most distinguished faculty.
